What To Expect
Thai Yoga Massage is practised on a mat on the floor. There is no need for the use of oil and the receiver wears loose, warm and comfortable clothes that don’t restrict movement. It is best to avoid heavy meals before the treatment and to drink plenty of water afterwards as toxins are released and these need to be flushed away.
Thai Yoga Massage can be performed in a minimum of 1½ hours, but a longer, more extensive massage is performed in 2 hours. In both massages, the whole body is treated, starting at the feet by limbering, relaxing and preparing the body in a logical sequence of yoga-style stretches and postures. The therapist uses a combination of hands, feet and elbows to apply pressure along the energy lines.
The treatment is mainly concerned with balancing the energy systems of the body. It can take 4-5 days for this re-balance to be complete. Thai Yoga Massage normally leaves the receiver feeling energised, calm and centred, but changes within the physical, mental and emotional body do take place over a period of time, so is particularly beneficial when received as a course of treatments.
